White Cookies

I have always liked these better then sugar cookies and they are perfect to roll out for your cookie decorating.

2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
1 cup sour cream (I know odd but it makes they yummy)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp. Vanilla
5 cups flour

In your mixer start off by combining your sugar and shortening and eggs. Once mixed add your salt and baking soda and vanilla. Once you have all these mixed together slowly start to add your flour with your mixer running on a slow speed. Somtimes it has only taken 4 cups of flour but I have always needed the 5. What you are looking for is a soft pliable dough that isnt going to sick to you and everything else so do a finger test and see how stickly it is as you are adding the last couple cups of flour.

Chill for 2 hours in the fridge. Then roll out and cut into the shapes you have and place on a greesed cookie sheet. These should bake for 10 to 12 minutes in a 375 degree oven.

The thicker you have your dough rolled out the more your cookies will rise and puff and the thinner the more they will spread out. Personally I like them thicker but you have to find what works for you. Let cool and then decorate as you like.

Congo Bars

2 3/4 cup flour
2 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp salt.

2/3 cup Margerine~ Melted
2 1/4 cup Brown Sugas
3 eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
1 large bag of M&M's

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9x13 pan and set that aside.

Take your first three ingredients and and sift them together and set them aside to be added later. Then take your brown sugar and add it to your large mixing bowl that already has your melted butter in it. Now add your eggs and mix them all together till they are compleatly blended together.  Take the dry ingredients that you set aside and slowly add them to the mix and mix them all the way in, your dough will be sticky. Now it is time to mix in your M&Ms compleatly. You can leave some out to sprinkly over the top though you dont need to because some will stay on the serface after it is poured into your pan. Pour it into the 9x13 pan that you have already gotten ready and then place it in your hot oven for about 30 min. stick a knife in the middle when it comes out clean its ready take it out and let cool then cut and serve,
